Govt focusing on enhanced exports and farm productivity, says finance minister

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has said that the government was focusing on increasing exports and enhancing farm productivity to help the country stand on its own feet.

Addressing Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit on Wednesday, Miftah Ismail stated that every company should export at least ten percent of their products to earn valuable foreign exchange for Pakistan.

The finance minister also said that agricultural sector has been a productive sector of the country. He said the country has so far imported 1.1 million ton of wheat during the current year.

The finance minister said that creation of balance in incomes and expenditures has been essential and living within our means would address the issues of budget and trade deficits.

Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman said that the GDP of Pakistan was impacted by climate change.

The 5th edition of Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit started in Islamabad on Wednesday. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail was the chief guest of the opening ceremony. The theme of this year is Imagineering the Future.

The summit would continue for two days and both days will be hybrid with physical attendance of over 1,000 business delegates from Pakistan and abroad. Thousands more will attend virtually.
