Govt forms commission to investigate ‘foreign plot’ behind no-trust motion

Federal government makes efforts to get bails of Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz cancelled

After taking the additional charge of the Law Minister, Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday directed to form a commission to investigate the “foreign conspiracy” behind the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Chaudhry was given the additional charge of the law ministry after barrister Farogh Naseem stepped down, who resigned from his post after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) decided to withdraw from the ruling government coalition.

According to a statement, the commission will probe the no-confidence motion from various angles and investigate the possibility of a foreign conspiracy to bring a change in the government.

Chaudhry also ordered a major reshuffle in the law ministry in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore and told officials to perform their responsibilities.

Meanwhile, a local news outlet reported that the federal government is working to get the bails of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz cancelled. It added that the law ministry has issued notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the matter. The investigation agency then approached a Lahore Special Court seeking to remove bail granted to Shehbaz and Hamza. The court in turn issued a notice to the PML-N President and his son to appear before the court on April 4.
