Federal Government has officially issued the appointment notification of Lt. Gen. Asim Munir as Chief of Army Staff and Lt. Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza as Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC).
The Gazette Notice of Federal Government stated that Lt. Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza will take charge as Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Committee on 27th November.
As per Notification, Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad will be appointed as CJCSC for 3 years term.
Meanwhile, after the retirement of COAS Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa on 29 November, Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir will take charge as the 17th Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan.
The notification from the Ministry of Defense read, “In exercise of powers conferred by Article 243(4)(b) of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan 1973 read with Section 8A of Pakistan Army Act 1952, the president on the advice of the prime minister is pleased to approve the promotion of PA-25031 Lt Gen Syed Asim Munir, HI(M), Inf to the rank of General with immediate effect and his appointment as Chief of the Army Staff for the period of three years with effect from 29th November 2022.”
Federal also issued notifications of the retirement of COAS Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and CJCSC Gen. Nadeem Raza.
As per the notification, Gen. Bajwa will retire on Nov 29 whereas, Gen Nadeem will retire on Nov 27.
Leaders from both the government and the opposition congratulated the military officers after their appointments and expressed confidence in their ability to uphold the nation’s standards.
