Govt to present pro-people, business-friendly budget: Miftah

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail Saturday said that the government was aiming at inclusive and sustainable economic growth by presenting a pro-people and business-friendly budget for the fiscal year 2022-23.

During a meeting with a delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) led by its President Irfan Iqbal Shaikh, the minister commended the suggestions proposed by the members of various sectors of the economy, and added that proposals of all stakeholders would be given due regard.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) chairman and other senior officers.

The federal minister said that the FPCCI is acting as a bridge between the government and traders. He told with the delegation that macroeconomic stability was a prime concern of the incumbent government.

Therefore, Ismail said, the government was committed to ensuring financial discipline through effective and farsighted policies to enhance growth.

Speaking on the occasion, the FPCCI president congratulated Miftah Ismail on assuming the office and presented various proposals for consideration.

Multiple measures were suggested by FPCCI members for bringing in greater efficiency in industrial and agricultural sectors.

They also briefed the minister about tax-related issues facing the business community. Furthermore, they requested the finance minister to consider their proposals.

The FPCCI delegation assured the government of its support and cooperation in enhancing economic stability in the country.
