Govt won’t allow World Cup participation if India doesn’t come to Pakistan, Sethi

I proposed hybrid plan to ACC in which Pakistan, India could play at impartial locations, Chairman PCB management committee

The Chairman of the management committee for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi has said that he has proposed a hybrid plan to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in which Pakistan and India could play their matches at impartial locations.

Speaking to reporters in the nation’s capital, Sethi urged a logical strategy to resolve the problem that threatens the country’s involvement in the ODI World Cup and the effective hosting of the Asia Cup.

“We have already presented the ACC member countries with the concept of a mixed model, under which India would be permitted to play its contests at any neutral site of their choosing. We will stick to the same routine when it comes to Pakistan’s involvement in the ODI World Cup in October 2021, Najam Sethi said.

There is a possibility that Pakistan’s government won’t permit the Green Shirts to pass the border to compete in the World Cup if India declines to journey there to compete in the Asia Cup.

“Cricket will lose the most as a result in that situation. Problems that undoubtedly pose a danger to the successful hosting of ICC and ACC tournaments should be resolved in a middle ground fashion. The government will not permit us to journey to India to participate in World Cup contests if India refuses to go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

He dispelled the notion that Pakistan’s absence from the ODI World Cup will result in cash loses for the country.

In response to a query regarding Pakistan’s loss to the lowly Afghanistan squad, Sethi stated that the selectors fielded an A side for the series.

The problem is that the media was too keen in giving Pakistan Super League (PSL) performers opportunities, so we wanted to test some inexperienced players, he said.

Sethi continued, saying that while two of the junior players have secured their spots on the squad, the others will need to put in a lot of effort to get the next chance. “Now that the team’s formation for the series against New Zealand is better known to selectors,” he added.
