Gul Plaza inquiry report decision reserved

The Sindh Information Commission has reserved its decision on a petition seeking access to the inquiry report into the Gul Plaza tragedy after hearing arguments from all parties involved. The commission is expected to announce its ruling on July 22.

During the proceedings, both the current and former investigating officers in the Gul Plaza case recorded their statements before the commission.

The investigating officer informed the commission that the police had not received a copy of the judicial commission’s report on the Gul Plaza incident. He also stated that a sessions court had ordered a fresh investigation into the case.

To facilitate the renewed probe, the investigation team has sent official letters to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), the Deputy Commissioner’s office, and other relevant departments to obtain records and necessary information.

The officer confirmed that the reinvestigation into the Gul Plaza tragedy is currently underway as authorities continue to gather evidence and review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
