Haleem assures support to Fahmida Siyal’s family

Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh on Monday reached Khairpur’s Juso village near Larkana and offered condolences to the family members of slain Fahmida Siyal.

Haleem expressed deep sorrow and profound grief over the murder of the innocent woman and assured support to the bereaved family.

Member Sindh Assembly Raja Azhar, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Sukkur President Syed Tahir Shah, Dr Masroor Sial, Samiullah Abro, Moula Bux Pathan, Nisar Arain, Muhammad Ali Hakro, Naheed Khuhawar, Ume Rubab Chandio and others also accompanied the opposition leader.

Speaking to media persons, Haleem said that he came to offer condolences to the heirs of Fahmida, who was murdered inside her home by Shaheed Isran, father of a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ganhwer Khan Isran, in the presence of local police.

Haleem said that he was visiting Khairpur Juso on directives of Prime minister Imran Khan and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail to console the affected family and to assure them that no stone would be left upturned for dispensation of justice to the bereaved family.

He said that the poor woman carrying the Holy Quran begged for mercy but the cruel assassin and his henchman opened fire, adding that police guards and vehicles of MPA Isran were accompanied by Shaheed Isran.

Haleem said that the Isran family wanted to usurp houses and land of the poor Siyal family, so first they abducted male members of the family through police and then ambushed their home and killed Fahmida, while the sanctity of the Holy Quran was also violated.

A nephew of the murdered woman was also abducted because he was recording a video of the inhuman incident, Haleem added. He claimed that police were involved in the heinous crime and it was evident from the fact that anti-terrorism provisions were not included in the FIR.

“It was a barbaric example of terrorism like Nizam Jokhio case,” he maintained and vowed to fight Fahmida’s case for dispensation of justice to the affected family.

He referred to the case of Ume Rubab Chandio, who set an example of tireless struggle against the Sardari system, and urged the Siyal family to stand firm against intimidation and coercion of cruel sardars and not accept any Jirga.

Ume Rubab Chandio, while speaking on the occasion, said that the feudal system had ransacked Sindh, and the daughters of the province were desperate for justice. She said, “I am still wondering about justice as three of my family members were killed.”

PTI leader Dr Masroor Siyal alleged that the affected family was being pressured to withdraw their case, while local police could not provide security to the family.
