Former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shehbaz has left for London on a private visit on Thursday.

A special court in Lahore has also summoned Hamza Shehbaz and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on September 7 for indictment on a money laundering case. The case was filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

During the last hearing of the court, PM Shehbaz Sharif had filed pleas for exemption from that day’s hearing. FIA prosecutor submitted details of bank accounts and assets owned by Suleman Shahbaz and the death certificate of a suspect, Malik Maqsood [Maqsood Chaprasi].

Shehbaz and his family are facing charges of money laundering of billions of rupees using accounts of their sugar mills and employees, according to the FIA.
