Harry Styles, who overcame Beyoncé, Adele, Lizzo, and Bad Bunny to win Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammys, provoked reactions with his statement, saying “this doesn’t happen to people like me very often and this is so, so nice.”
The former member of One Direction made the remarks on Sunday in Los Angeles after receiving the award for his album “Harry’s House”.

Although it’s unclear to whom Styles was addressing, some social media users swiftly criticized the British musician for saying that honors rarely go to “people like” him.
Some music fans who were upset with him pointed out that white, cisgender men had controlled award shows for a long time. Beyoncé has yet to get the Album of the Year award.
