Hassan Ali dropped as PCB announces squad for Netherland series and Asia Cup 2022

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 16-member squad on Wednesday for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League fixtures against The Netherlands and a 15-member team for the T20 Asia Cup.

Pakistan and The Netherlands’s matches are set to take place from August 16 to 21 while the ACC T20 Asia Cup will take place from August 27 to September 11 in the United Arab Emirates.

According to a statement issued by the PCB, young pacer, Naseem Shah has been named in both the squads in place of Hassan Ali.

Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim, while addressing media in Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, said “We just made the changes that were required. We have chosen our best available players in consultation with captain Babar Azam and head coach Saqlain Mushtaq because both competitions are crucial to us.”

Pakistan’s team for the Netherlands ODIs includes: Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani and Zahid Mehmood.
Pakistan team for T20 Asia Cup: Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani and Usman Qadir.

The players’ training camp will take place in Lahore from August 6–11. The side will leave in the early hours of Friday, August 12, bound for Amsterdam. T20I players will join the team in Dubai on August 22 for the ACC T20 Asia Cup.
