Faisalabad district health department has failed to achieve the desired vaccination target to protect citizens from Coronavirus. Daily, 90,000 citizens are targeted for Coronavirus vaccinations. Still, due to the inattention of health department officials and negligence of field staff, about fifty percent of people have been vaccinated against the virus. As a result, the targets set by the government of Pakistan and the NCOC for vaccination were not producing the desired results.

The fourth wave of Coronavirus is spreading across the country, including Faisalabad. Medical experts warned of a fifth and most substantial Coronavirus outbreak during January. Still, the Faisalabad district health department failed to fulfil its responsibilities to protect citizens from the expected wave of Coronavirus because only thirty percent of the population of Faisalabad has been vaccinated against the virus. In comparison, the remaining seventy percent of the population was deprived of the vaccination.

According to official figures, the total population of Faisalabad was over 6 million despite the restrictions and repeated directives imposed by the federal government and the NCOC.

Only about 1.9 million people have been vaccinated against Coronavirus, while the remaining 4.1 million people did all the work without vaccination. Faisalabad District Health Department had to aim to vaccinate 90,000 people daily. Still, to date, the field staff of the health department has not been able to achieve the target of vaccinating 90,000 people.

According to the report, only 45,000 to 50,000 people were being immunised daily by the health department, which would not achieve the targets set by the federal government and the NCOC.

Medical experts have expressed serious concerns over the lack of interest in vaccination against the large population of Faisalabad.

In this regard, Health Authority Chief Executive Dr. Kashif Mahmood clarified that the population of Faisalabad is enormous. According to the available resources, citizens are being vaccinated against Coronavirus. However, the citizens do not even cooperate with the health department teams due to various rumours. He further said that the Corona vaccine is available in all teaching hospitals, tehsil headquarters hospitals, social security hospitals, large private hospitals, rural health centers, basic health centers and union council offices in Faisalabad. Citizens who are being vaccinated should get their vaccinations done immediately.
