Lahore Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority, Hina Parvez Butt, has taken serious notice of an incident reported in Harbanspura, where a woman was allegedly harassed and subjected to an attempted sexual assault by an individual posing as a spiritual healer.

Expressing deep concern over the incident, Hina Parvez Butt stated that exploiting vulnerable individuals under the guise of spiritual healing, religious recitation, or faith-based practices is a grave offense that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. She emphasized that those who misuse the trust of women and families for personal gain or criminal purposes must be held accountable under the law.

She appreciated the swift and effective response of the Harbanspura Police, particularly acknowledging the efforts of SHO Harbanspura, SI Faryad, and the police team for taking immediate action and arresting the accused. She noted that prompt law enforcement intervention helped prevent further harm and demonstrated the commitment of the police to ensuring justice for victims of such crimes.

Hina Parvez Butt remarked that individuals who disguise themselves as spiritual healers and exploit women emotionally, psychologically, or physically are a stain on society. Such people not only violate the law but also damage the trust and values associated with genuine religious and spiritual practices. She reiterated that no leniency would be shown toward anyone found guilty of harassment, exploitation, blackmail, intimidation, or sexual misconduct.

She further urged women to report any incidents of harassment or abuse without hesitation. According to her, silence often enables offenders to continue targeting innocent people. Women who face threats, coercion, blackmail, or any form of inappropriate behavior from self-proclaimed spiritual healers, faith healers, or any other individuals should immediately seek help from the police or contact the Punjab Women Protection Authority.

Highlighting the Authority’s commitment to supporting victims, Hina Parvez Butt stated that the Punjab Women Protection Authority remains fully dedicated to safeguarding women’s rights and welfare. She assured that affected women would be provided with legal assistance, psychological counseling, and all possible support services to help them recover and pursue justice.

She also emphasized that the protection of women remains a top priority of the Punjab Government. Referring to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Hina Parvez Butt stated that ensuring a safe and secure environment for women is central to the government’s agenda. She noted that the Chief Minister has repeatedly made it clear that the dignity, safety, and rights of women are non-negotiable and that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who attempts to violate them.

Concluding her statement, Hina Parvez Butt reaffirmed the Punjab Women Protection Authority’s mission to create a society where women can live with dignity, confidence, and security. She stressed that there would be no compromise on the protection, respect, and honor of women and that every effort would be made to ensure that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice.
