Foreign news agency Reuters has reported that two LNG carriers from Qatar crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Monday and are heading towards Pakistan and China.

The report says maritime traffic in the region has been severely disrupted following rising tensions in the Gulf and alleged US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

According to Reuters, the LNG vessel Fuwairit departed from Qatar’s Ras Laffan port and is expected to reach Pakistan on Tuesday.

Another vessel, Al-Reyan, is en route to China and is expected to arrive at its destination on June 27.

Reuters also reported that a large oil tanker carrying Iraqi crude managed to leave the Gulf after nearly three months. The vessel is heading to China’s Ningbo port, where it is expected to offload around 2 million barrels of crude oil on June 12.

The report adds that Iran has designated specific maritime routes, allowing only a limited number of large oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

In the past week, three major tankers reportedly delivered 6 million barrels of crude oil to China and South Korea.

Before the conflict, around 125 to 140 vessels passed daily through the Strait of Hormuz. However, current conditions have left hundreds of ships and approximately 20,000 sailors stranded in Gulf waters.
