A media report has revealed that more than 300 people have identified themselves as current or ex-employees of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or affiliates agencies and they are affiliated with Oath Keepers, an anti-government militia whose commanders have been found guilty of waging a violent war against the US government.

The report also revealed that one-tenth of the Oath Keepers are currently serving members of the military or law enforcement, making up two-thirds of the group.

“The Oath Keepers included a “20-year special agent” with the US Secret Service who served in the security detail for two presidents,” according to the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).

According to the Oath Keepers roster, 21 of the organization’s 306 dues-paying members identified themselves as being employed by DHS at the time their names were added.

Whereas, 184 identified themselves as ex-employee of the coast guard.

Other than that 67 revealed that they worked in DHS and 40 from border patrol.

Bennie Thompson, who chairs the House homeland security committee said, “The new revelations are troubling. Extremism within a government is always alarming, but even more so in a department with law enforcement and national security nexus.”

According to the documents OCCRP reviewed, the organization’s members contributed at least $750,000 annually to the cause.
