I am with Pathaan, says Mahira Khan

Pakistani superstar Mahira Khan while talking to renowned writer cum comedian Anwar Maqsood on Sunday at the Arts Council of Pakistan expressed her support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan saying, “I am with Pathaan”.

Both celebrities had a conversation at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi about politics, The Legend of Maula Jatt, and the value of financial security for women in Pakistan.

“Honesty is in scarcity in the present times. Honesty is important in work, and relationships, and at this point, I would love to see someone elected who is honest, no matter the political party,” Mahira said.

Upon learning Mahira’s views the well-known scriptwriter replied, “You see, Quaid-e-Azam was a good man as well but he passed away just a year into his rule. Imran has been alive for the past three years and is still doing well. He is also honest. Just as one fish can contaminate an entire river so can one honest man alter an entire country. To transform the entire system more than one guy is required.”

“Everyone wants to go abroad, wants their children to study abroad and even get their treatments from foreign countries; we know all this can’t be done honestly. Let’s forget about dishonesty, that’s present in flourishing nations too, it’s not just about honest leaders,” Anwar Maqsood added.

Then Mahira questioned Anwar about what he would do if he ever rose to power in Pakistan. He said, “I will forgive all the dishonest people. I’ll set them free. 23 million people are living in Pakistan and if it were to turn into ‘Riyasat-e-Madina’ 19 million people would lose their hands. We will perish if this nation takes on the characteristics of the ancient ‘Riyasat-e-Madina’ and a plague will descend upon us if we adopt those of its more modern iteration.”
