An interview clip of Firdous Ashiq Awan is going viral on social media in which she is admitting that she was gifted 200 tolas of gold during her wedding. She also mentioned that at her sister’s wedding, even buffaloes were adorned with gold bangles as part of their tradition.
“I received 200 tolas of gold as a wedding gift, and even buffaloes were adorned with gold bangles at my sister’s wedding,” said Firdous Ashiq Awan, the central secretary of Istahkam Pakistan Party(IPP).
Firdous Ashiq Awan stated that it is a common practice in their culture. They also put gold bangles on the buffaloes given as gifts at her sister’s wedding.
However, she personally does not like gold, and that’s why people may have never seen her wearing gold. She jokingly added that wearing so much gold makes her feel like a cartoon character.
Talking about married life, the former minister said that her husband is an overseas Pakistani and they used to have disagreements, but now he understands her temperament, and they get along well.
