Ifra Bukhari’s fifth collection of short stories now in print

Writer recently got short story collection titled ‘Sang-e-Siyaah’ published

Ifra Bukhari, who is counted among the finest of Urdu language’s creative writers, just got her latest collection of short stories published.

Titled as Sang-e-Siyaah, the anthology that comprises of ten short stories, promises to be as rich and substantial as the author’s previous works such as Faasle (1964), Nijaat (1998), Rait Mein Paaun (2003) and Aankh aur Andhera (2009).

Bukhari started her writing career with children’s magazines around 1952 and moved towards afsaana nigari (short story writing) with Lail o Nahaar in 1959. Apart from this, her articles and short stories have also been published in seminal journals like Istaqlaal, Tameer e Nau, Imroz, Adab Lateef, Dastaan Go, Savera, Afkaar, Maah e Nau, Naqoosh, Funoon, Seep, Al-Shujaah, Syara Digest, Zaib un Nisa, Tehzeem and Chilman.

The author’s short-story writing career can be divided into two phases, one from 1959 to 1979 and the other beginning in 1993 and stretching to date.

News is it that Bukhari is now working on her sixth collection of short stories as well, which will be titled as Us Ki Zindagi.
