The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has imposed a fine of Rs25,000 on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad on a petition seeking removal of Shireen Mazari’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
The high court ordered that IG Rs 25,000 be given to petitioner Shireen Mazari before the next hearing. On August 2, the IGP Islamabad was asked to submit a reply within a week but he did not submit the reply till August 10.
The court said that IG Islamabad is being fined Rs25,000 for not submitting his reply even today. The court order said that the IG should conduct an inquiry as to why the reply was not submitted as per the court order. “Initiate an inquiry, take action and submit a reply within 2 weeks,” the court stated.
Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri issued a three-page written order, imposing a fine of Rs25,000 on IG Islamabad and ordering him to submit a reply within two weeks.
