IHC issues notices in petition of Arshad’s mother

Court seeks reply from PIMS, Capital admin till Nov 15

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and the Islamabad administration in the petition of Arshad Sharif’s mother for not providing the post-mortem report.

IHC heard the petition of journalist Arshad Sharif’s mother against not providing the post-mortem report. Barrister Shoaib Razak appeared before the court on behalf of the mother of the slain journalist.

Justice Amir Farooq of the IHC heard the petition saying that on November 3 the focal person of Arshad Sharif’s family sought a report from the administration. In the petition, it was said that when the focal person went to the police he was refused and asked to contact the administration. The petition also said that the PIMS administration has kept the family in the dark about the post-mortem report and Arshad Sharif’s family was being humiliated for the report in difficult times.

The mother had said that it was suspected that the post-mortem report may be altered to distort the facts. It was requested that to make the whole process transparent Arshad’s family should be kept informed at every moment without the intervention of any third party and the whole process should be directed to move forward.

The petition further stated that the focal person of the family should be included in the whole process.

IHC issued notices and sought a reply from the parties by November 15.
