IHC rejects contempt plea against Fazl, Rana Sanaullah and Maryam Nawaz

The Islamabad High Court ruled that a claim of contempt of court against political leaders Fazl-ur-Rehman, Maryam Nawaz, and Rana Sanaullah was inadmissible.

On Friday, Islamabad High Court upheld the registrar office’s objection that there was no appropriate forum.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani stated, “The statements fell on deaf ears when they were made” during the hearing of the petition for contempt of court against Fazl, Maryam Nawaz, and Rana Sanaullah.

Attorney Ali Butter urged the court to begin the contempt of court action.

The petitioner’s attorney’s application was questioned by the court. He retorted that these figures made various claims about the courts on social media.

The judge questioned, “Is there any mention of this high court?”

The court advised the lawyer to approach the Lahore High Court and Supreme Court, as they had been mentioned in the remarks of the concerned.

Despite the petitioner being from Lahore, the judge questioned why Islamabad was chosen.

The judge stated, “Tell the petitioner that there are courts in Lahore.”
