IHC to hear Gill’s post-arrest bail plea on 5th

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday fixed the post-arrest bail petition of PTI’s leader Shahbaz Gill in a sedition case for hearing on September 5.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah would take up the case for hearing on Monday, filed by PTI’s chairman Imran Khan’s aide.

The petitioner had adopted the stance in his plea that he was arrested by Kohsar Police Station on August 9 after registration of an FIR against him. The petitioner was a chief of staff officer of former prime minister Imran Khan, he added.

He claimed that according to the medical officer of Adiala Jail and medical board of PIMS, there were signs of torture on his body. He prayed the court to grant him post-arrest bail. The petitioner had named Kohsar SHO, city magistrate and others as respondents in the case.

Ex-GB chief judge: Meanwhile, the IHC fixed a contempt of court case against former chief judge Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim pertaining to his controversial statement about the alleged telephonic conversation of ex-CJP Saqib Nisar.

The IHC’s bench headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah would take up the case for hearing on September 5. It may be mentioned here that the court had fixed the case for hearing after the summer vacations. The court had previously ordered Shamim to submit his original affidavit on the basis of which a news was published in an English daily.
