Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi wed when the latter was in her “Iddat” (the period of isolation following her husband’s death or divorce), despite knowing everything, Mufti Saeed, who performed the couple’s Nikah, has said.

The preacher made the comment while testifying in the lawsuit involving the purported un-Islamic Nikah of the former prime minister with Bushra Riaz Wattoo, also known as Bushra Bibi. In February 2018, the former prime minister wed Bushra, who is his third wife. Former party leader Awn Chaudhry and Khan’s buddy Zulfi Bukhari said that Mufti Saeed performed the Nikah in Lahore. They both saw Khan’s Nikah as well.

Mufti Saeed went today with his attorney before a municipal court in Islamabad to give a testimony.

He stated, “In January 2018, I received a phone call from Imran Khan. I was a part of Imran Khan’s core committee and we had a terrific relationship at the time.” Mufti Saeed informed the court, “Imran Khan asked me to solemnize his Nikah with Bushra Bibi.

He added that a woman who was with Bushra Bibi demonstrated that she was her sister. Mufti Saeed said, “I asked her [the lady] if Bushra Bibi’s Nikah can be [solemnized] as per Shariah, and she answered that all conditions for the marriage under the Shariah were satisfied.”

Further, he said that on January 1st, 2018, on Bushra Bibi’s guarantee, he solemnized Khan and Bushra Bibi’s Nikah. Mufti Saeed said before the court, “The former premier called me again in February 2018 and asked me to solemnize his Nikah with Bushra Bibi once more as the first time it was against the Shariah.”
