Imran hands over Rs50m cheque to LBA ahead of PTI’s long march

Ex-PM seeks lawyers’ support for his ‘real freedom march’ against coalition government

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs50 million as grant to the Lahore Bar Association, besides announcing Sehat Cards and upgradation of a hospital for lawyers.

“I’m going to start a real freedom march,” he said while addressing the members of the Lahore Bar Association during his visit. The visit comes just a day before his ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’ (real freedom march) towards Islamabad. The PTI chairman urged the lawyers to support his long march, saying that “it is the final and decisive moment” of his struggle. He stated that he was fighting this war for the whole nation. He also took the lawyers into confidence over the lawyers’ protection bill and asked the Punjab government to approve the same. During his visit, Imran handed over a cheque of Rs50 million and asked the provincial government to release the funds for the upgradation of the lawyers’ hospital. Strict security arrangements were made during his visit. However, some people chanted slogans against him.
