Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has alleged that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) used the state machinery against his party in the Punjab by-polls, and that the chief election commissioner (CEC) should give his resignation.

In an address today following his party’s victory in the by-polls, the PTI chairman said that the solution to the country’s problems were early elections.

Imran Khan also thanked the youth and women who voted for his party.

He said that the people had understood the ideology of the country and that the nation had awakened.

The former prime minister stated that the reason for the political mess was the economic crisis, which he blamed on the PML-N.

He said that the reserves of the country had been cut by half since the PML-N formed the government, adding that the rupee was falling even though an agreement with the IMF had been signed.

He pointed out that the solution to this was free and fair elections, but they should not be conducted in the manner the by-polls were.

The PTI chairman alleged that the government used all tactics to defeat PTI, including police threats to their workers.

Imran also made the claim that there were four million deceased voters included in the electoral lists.

Moreover, the PTI chairman separately alleged that the CEC attempted to turn the by-polls in the favour of the PML-N.

He added that he was disappointed in the CEC and that he was not competent to run the affairs of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

He added that the CEC should immediately resign.

He added that there was evidence of bribery in Senate elections of 2021 and lack of investigation into Pakistan People’s Party’s candidates winning unopposed in the Sindh local government elections.

He added that there were various instances of rigging in the polls that were brought before the chief election commissioner, yet he did not act on it. This, he said, encouraged malpractice.

The PTI chairman said that people came out to cast their votes despite these tactics and the party won.

Furthermore, Imran Khan also spoke about how the PML-N came to power to get rid of cases against them and got bills passed from the assembly.

He added that he would challenge this in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
