Imran Khan demands apology on Omni Group’s notice

SC’s JIT revealed close relations between Omni, Zardari Groups and Bahria Town, PTI Chairman

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has sent a reply to the defamation notice issued by the Omni Group. Imran Khan said that the notice sent by Omni Group was baseless, illegal, fake and absolutely wrong and Omni Group should immediately withdraw its notice and apologize to the Chairman PTI.

In a reply sent through Barrister Hassan Khan Niazi and Barrister Mian Waleed Ashraf, Imran Khan has also provided details of the plea bargain made by Omni Group with NAB. In his reply Imran Khan has said that the notice was completely flawed in law which did not meet the rules and regulations of the Defamation Ordinance 2002.

The reply has also said that the investigation report of the JIT formed on the orders of the Supreme Court in July 2018 revealed close relations between Omni Group, Zardari Group and Bahria Town. He further said that out of the transactions made in fake accounts of Rs 8.3 billion from Bahria Town through the joint account of Mushtaq Ahmed and Zain Malik a plea bargain of Rs 31.8 million was approved.

On November 22, 2022 Omni Group Chairman Khawaja Abdul Ghani Majeed had sent a notice of damages to the PTI Chairman. In the notice sent by Abdul Ghani Majeed, Imran Khan was advised to tender an unconditional apology to the Omni Group within 14 days and refrain from making baseless and fabricated allegations against the Omni Group in the future.

It may be recalled that Imran Khan in a speech on November 17, 2022 had accused Omni group of making a plea bargain deal of Rs 9 billion with the National Accountability Bureau.
