Imran Khan issues schedule of jalsas in Punjab ahead of long march

PTI chairman will address public rallies in Sialkot, Jhelum, Attock, Mianwali, Faisalabad and Chakwal after Eid

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has given a hectic schedule of his public rallies in Punjab ahead of PTI’s planned long march towards Islamabad.

Imran Khan has just given a call for a long march towards the federal capital while aiming to bring two million people with him, with the final date yet to be announced. He is planning to hold a sit-in in Islamabad till fresh elections are announced in the country.

In a video message, Imran Khan has revealed that PTI will give a call of march to Islamabad in the last week of May. To mobilize the workers, he has planned a hectic schedule to hold public rallies in six districts of Punjab right after Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to the schedule, Imran Khan will address a public gathering in his hometown of Mianwali on May 6 while PTI’s parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Sabtain Khan Niazi will be the focal person of the event.

The next jalsa will be hosted by former information minister Fawad Chaudhry in his hometown of Jhelum on May 10. Similarly, Imran Khan will address a public gathering in Attock on May 12 and the focal person for the event will be Major Tahir Sadiq. Central leader of PTI Usman Dar will host a jalsa in Sialkot on May 14.

Imran Khan will address public rallies in Faisalabad and Chakwal on May 15 and 19. Raja Yasir will host the Chakwal Jalsa while Latif Nazar will be hosting the Faisalabad rally.

It is worth mentioning here that the former premier is in an aggressive mood since his government was ousted through the vote of no confidence last month. He has addressed large public gatherings in Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar after his removal from the office.

He has demanded fresh elections in the country as it will be the only solution to end the political impasse. In the meanwhile, a coordination committee has also been constituted for the PTI’s long march for its arrangements.

PTI Punjab President Shafqat Mehmood will be the convener of the coordination committee while general secretary Raja Yasir Humayun will be the deputy convener. Former provincial health minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid will be the coordinator for Lahore division, Sadaqat Abbasi for Rawalpindi division, Faiz Ullah Kamoka for Faisalabad division, Sabtain Khan Niazi for Sargodha division, Ahmad Chattha for Gujranwala division and Rai Hassan Nawaz for Sahiwal division.

Similarly, Tashfeen Safdar will be the coordinator for Women, Zubair Khan Niazi for Youth and Students and Anis Hashmi will be the coordinator for Lawyers Community for the long march.

In a related development, a large number of PTI workers gathered at Liberty Roundabout, Lahore, on the call of Imran Khan against the government on Ramazan 27. The PTI chairman has earlier given a call to his workers to hold rallies with families on Chaand Raat against the ‘imported’ government.
