Imran Khan sends Rs15 billion notice to NAB Chairman over illegal arrest

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced that he will send a notice of Rs15 billion to the NAB Chairman for his illegal arrest.

Imran Khan said, “I am sending a notice of Rs15 billion damages to the NAB chairman who arrested me on the basis of malice in violation of my fundamental rights and NAB laws and regulations.”

PTI has said in a tweet that NAB issued illegal arrest warrant against Imran Khan, the chairman has initiated full-fledged legal proceedings. It said that NAB Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed has been sent a Rs15 billion damages notice. The notice was sent by PTI Chairman’s lawyer Abu Zar Salman Niazi.

PTI also said in the tweet that Imran Khan’s arrest warrant was issued on May 1 but after the warrant was issued, that was kept secret for 8 days. It said that Imran Khan was arrested by Rangers on May 9 as a terrorist or a member of a banned organization, and the arrest warrants were illegal as per Section 24 of NAB Ordinance.

It further said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had declared Imran Khan’s arrest illegal and unconstitutional, NAB chairman violated Imran Khan’s fundamental constitutional rights and deliberately took illegal action which shows his malice.

The notice has demanded the Chairman NAB to immediately tender an unconditional apology to PTI Chairman and pay Rs15 billion damages to PTI.

The notice has warned that if NAB chairman does not apologize, legal proceedings will proceed.
