Imran Khan to continue march after Punjab by-elections, claims Elahi

Role of establishment pivotal on key appointments like chairman NAB and CEC ECP, says PML-Q leader

Imran Khan has postponed his long march till the by-elections in Punjab. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q)’s senior leader Parvez Elahi has claimed,

Speaking to a media outlet, Punjab Assembly Speaker Parvez Elahi said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s march against the government would happen after by-elections in July; adding that there would be sit-ins after the elections.

Talking about the news of a rift in PML-Q, Elahi said that these news were based upon rumors and there were no divisions in the party.

Elahi said that Chaudhry Salik Hussain, son of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, was a newcomer to politics and did not have any experience.

Elahi claimed that he, along with his son Moonis Elahi, had worked for Salik Hussain’s victory. On the other side, Hussain Elahi on June 8 had announced the end of his political journey with PML-Q due to it supporting PM Shehbaz Sharif.

Talking about the role of establishment in Pakistan’s politics, he said that it was not possible to move forward with things without the support of establishment and their role was pivotal on key decisions like appointment of the chairman of National Accountability Bureau and Election Commission of Pakistan.
