Imran leaves for Rawalpindi as PTI caravans converge in Garrison city

Police write to PTI leadership over strict security arrangements

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has left for Rawalpindi by chartered private plane as PTI caravans have been converging on the Murree Road of the Garrison city.

Earlier senior provincial minister Mian Aslam Iqbal met PTI Chairman at Zaman Park where he was briefed on the convoys going to Rawalpindi from Lahore and other cities. Aslam Iqbal was also informed us about the security arrangements.

Earlier Imran Khan was planning to travel by helicopter but the plan was changed in the morning. The plane was thoroughly checked for security.

On the other side, a written communication has been sent to the party leadership over security instructions by the Punjab Police. In the instructions, it has been said that the stage and rostrum should be made bulletproof while Imran Khan must also use a bulletproof jacket.

In addition to directing Khan not to get out of the vehicle in any public place, the PTI has also been asked to keep his movement secret. According to the letter, the parking of the VIP vehicle will be separate and specific while the list of participants on the stage will be provided to the administration in advance and no one will be able to go to the stage except the names included in the list.

Police have banned the entry of any armed private guard/gunman in the rally venue saying that Khan will not meet the public at any place. All participants will be able to enter from the proposed site only after thorough checking. The police letter further said that there will be a complete ban on the use of drone cameras and fireworks in the venue.

It should be noted that interior minister Rana Sanaullah said in a press conference yesterday that the report of the agencies is that Imran Khan’s life is in danger, postpone tomorrow’s public meeting.
