Imran should be summoned by inquiry committee: Azma

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Information Secretary MPA Azma Bukhari demanded that Imran Khan must be called in the inquiry committee constituted by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to probe the audio leaks of the PM Office.

Addressing a press conference at PML-N secretariat in Model Town, she said that Imran Khan should be called in the inquiry committee and he should himself appear before the committee. Bukhari said that the Imran Khan’s narrative of US conspiracy has also been completely exposed now as there was no truth in it from the day one. On Wednesday, an audio was leaked in which former Prime Minister Imran Khan was talking to his then Principal Secretary Azam Khan over the issue of cypher that former premier claimed to be a ‘foreign’ conspiracy to oust his government. Imran Khan said in the audio that they will have to play over the issue of cypher.

“The captain insisted on not naming anyone in the cypher and Azam Khan said that he will make minutes of his own choice,” Azma said. She was of the view that Imran Khan is a habitual liar and a fraud. She further added that innocent Pakistanis fall into the trap of Imran Khan. “Where is the American conspiracy now,” she questioned while adding that it was just part one and part two is also coming.

Talking about the return of Ishaq Dar from self-imposed exile, the PML-N leader said that Dar has landed with a plan to improve the economy. “Old is gold. The dollar has started declining and the rupee is gaining some strength,” said Azma. When asked about any change in the Punjab government, she said that having Punjab is our right since 2018. “It is our right and let us decide when to take back our due right,” the lawmaker said.

Bukhari said Imran Khan had nothing to give to the people except for hollow slogans and baseless promises. She said the previous government signed a poor deal with the IMF and that too was not fulfilled in a professional manner which resulted in worsening the economic situation. She said the incumbent government led by Shehbaz Sharif was taking bold steps to revive the economy of the country. To a question, she said the PML-N leaders including Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and others had been facing cases initiated against them politically.
