Hearing adjourned in Toshakhana case due to non-availability of lawyer

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday granted time to Imran Khan’s lawyer to submit a written reply for not disclosing his daughter in the papers.

It may be recalled that the court had issued pre-admission notices to Imran Khan, the Election Commission of Pakistan and the Federation at the request of Citizen Mohammad Sajid during the last hearing. It was taken in the petition that Imran Khan mentioned two children in the details of his children while hiding the information about one.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the disqualification case of Imran Khan in an alleged daughter’s hiding disqualification case.

During the hearing Salman Akram Raja Advocate, Salman Abuzar Niazi and Azhar Siddique Advocate appeared on behalf of Imran Khan.

Advocate Salman Akram Raja said that the case has already been decided in the case of Terian. The Chief Justice said that you will submit your reply. The Lawyer of the ECP said that the matter came to ECP many times ago and many petitions were rejected.

During the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyers requested for time to submit a reply on which the court accepted the request giving him time to reply. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 19.

On the other hand, during the hearing of another case IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq adjourned the hearing on Imran Khan’s petition against the ECP’s decision and further action in the Toshakhana case due to the non-availability of a lawyer.

During the hearing, the assistant lawyer appeared in the court and requested to postpone the hearing saying that Barrister Ali Zafar could not appear today due to a busy schedule. The court accepted the request of the assistant lawyer and adjourned the hearing till next month.
