Increasing Chinese movement detected around Taiwan

Taiwan on Monday reported the movement of 63 Chinese military aircraft and four naval vessels around its territory.

According to the island Taiwan defense ministry, 31 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft breached the air defense identification zone by crossing the Taiwan Strait’s fictitious midway line.

The ministry further added that Chinese vehicles were tracked with electronic tracking tools, patrol planes, ships, and ground missile systems.

In a statement on Twitter, the defense ministry stated that ROC armed forces monitored the situation and responded to these activities with aircraft in CAP, naval vessels, and land-based missile systems.

Earlier on Sunday 44 Chinese warplanes, four warships, and two military drones were detected around the island.

Chinese military ships and planes so far avoided the smaller 12 nautical miles (22 km) zone that Taiwan considers to be the perimeter of its territorial waters and airspace.

China boosted its military operations surrounding Taiwan which it regards as its breakaway province ever since the speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi led a team to Taiwan.

Taiwan is an Island nation of more than 24 million people and its enhancing relations with the US is increasing Chinese insecurity.

Beijing also reduced its military talks with the US and halted collaboration on climate change problems to display military power.
