India kills at least 40 in ethnic clashes in Manipur

Dozens of rebels have been killed in clashes with security forces during the ongoing ethnic riots in the Indian state of Manipur.

According to foreign media, ethnic riots between two groups had been going on in India’s northeastern state of Manipur for the past weeks, where rebel forces also clashed, in which many rebels had been confirmed dead and many people reported missing.

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh said that more than 40 terrorists had been killed in the crackdown by the forces so far, while two policemen also lost their lives in the last two days.

The Chief Minister said that terrorists were using M-16, AK-47 and sniper guns against civilians and they had also set several villages on fire, after which we took strict action against them, in which the help of the army and other forces.
