Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not play in the next T20 World Cup in Australia because of a back issue. The 28-year-old also missed the most recent Asia Cup due to an injury.

He participated in two 20-over home games against Australia earlier this month, but the injury flared again and he missed Wednesday’s Twenty20 encounter against South Africa.

Bumrah has already been eliminated from the World Cup, where India opens their campaign on October 23 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Melbourne.

According to local media reports Bumrah has now been ruled out from the World Cup but BCCI spokespersons had not yet clarified whether he had been disqualified from the World Cup.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was the only one to make a statement on this issue. He said that Jasprit Bumrah will miss the whole South Africa series. Mohammed Siraj will replace Bumrah for the next two matches against South Africa.
