Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Saturday said that the institutions cannot remain “neutral” for a long time adding that he can see numerous political incidents in the county while they remain neutral.
Speaking to a local television channel, Rasheed called the ongoing situation in the country was “alarming and disturbing” adding that this “war’s” outcome cannot be predicted.
“All those who have turned a blind eye towards the situation should open their eyes as this fight is about to come to an end and the outcome could be anything,” he maintained.
The interior minister went on to say that Prime Minister Imran Khan is “mentally and politically ready” for every outcome. However, he said, that the speaker and the legal experts have the authority to hold voting in the National Assembly.
Rasheed regretted that people of the country were maligning the institutions of Pakistan. He reiterated his stance to hold early elections, saying that fresh polls are the “need of the hour.” The Interior Minister called on the opposition to move toward transparent elections.
Rasheed further mentioned that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz were going to be indicted in the ongoing proceeding in the Islamabad High Court. However, he said, that Shehbaz was preparing to become the prime minister while Hamza was eyed the Punjab chief minister’s seat.
