Inter-city bus fares hiked ahead of Eid

Intercity bus owners have increased fares ahead of Eid making it difficult or the public to go back home on the joyous occasion of EID.

As per reports, “Passengers from Karachi to Hyderabad are being charged up to Rs 2,000 while those going to Sanghar are being charged up to Rs 2,300.”

According to the passengers, in normal times, the fare is charged 500 rupees till Hyderabad and 700 rupees till Sanghar.

On the other hand, bus owners said that vehicles are coming empty in return and diesel is also expensive, due to which fares have been increased.

The Sindh government had already threatened harsh action against the transporters if they tried to overcharge people traveling to see family and relatives during the religious festival.

The Sindh Information Minister stated during a news conference that if transporters charged more than the announced fares, FIRs will be filed against them.

He said that no one would be allowed to increase fares arbitrarily. “If the transporters have concerns on this issue, they should contact the government,” he added.
