Interior ministry issues 20 red notices to wanted fugitives

IGP directs the Faisalabad police chief to take comprehensive and concrete steps to arrest the culprits

Federal Interior Ministry has issued red notices to 20 dangerous fugitive proclaimed offenders involved in severe cases in Faisalabad.

Following the notice, Interpol has since stepped in to search and arrest the suspects. The notorious suspects are wanted in high profile cases, including 11 for murder, four for terrorism with murder and two for kidnapping for ransom.

More than 2,700 fugitives proclaimed offenders were out of reach of police in Faisalabad district. According to data released by the police department, about 1700 of the accused had been included in category A, while the remaining more than one thousand had been placed in category B.

At the same time, there were 20 dangerous criminals involved in severe cases who had escaped abroad by evading the police, and many years later, it was no longer up to the police to arrest them.

After reviewing the situation, Ghulam Mubashir Mekan, a newly-appointed City Police Officer in Faisalabad, sent a report to the Federal Ministry of Interior Affairs. It listed 20 dangerous fugitive proclaimed offenders who had fled abroad and recommended that red notices be issued to all those fugitives. The Federal Ministry of Interior Affairs had issued red warnings to 20 accused involved in severe cases of fleeing abroad. Their list has also been released to Interpol, the global body for arresting fugitives, after which the Interpol administration had stepped in to arrest the culprits.

According to the official report, 11 dangerous fugitive proclaimed offenders involved in murder cases, and they had been out of police custody for a long time and have since fled abroad. Similarly, two notorious criminals abroad were involved in kidnapping for ransom cases. In addition to the terrorist incidents, four accused in severe murder cases were also included in the list of accused abroad. The number of accused fleeing abroad for kidnapping, murder, giving bogus cheques and betrayal of trust was 1-1.

According to sources, the Inspector General of Punjab Police has issued orders to City Police Officer Faisalabad to take comprehensive and concrete steps to arrest all the accused. The CPO had formed special teams to arrest the accused, and particular tasks had been assigned to town SPs, circle DSPs and ASPs to monitor these teams.

Faisalabad Police spokesperson clarified that Interpol had been contacted to arrest the accused involved in severe fleeing abroad. Practical steps had been taken to stop these dangerous accused and bring them back home.
