Iran claims US trying to use unrest to destabilize it, warns of response

The Foreign Ministry of Iran on Monday accused Washington of using the demonstrations, caused by the death of Masha Amini, to destabilize Iran.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani told Iranian media, “Washington is always trying to weaken Iran’s stability and security although it has been unsuccessful.”

According to a Reuters report, Kanaani, through his Instagram, alleged the US and European leaders of exploiting a tragedy with the assistance of “rioters” and disregarding the presence of millions of people in the streets and squares of the country in support of the system.

Nasser Kanaani condemned the interventionist positions of the United States and the European Union concerning Mahsa Amini’s death.

He further advised these governments to address the miserable situation of human rights in their countries and stop fruitless efforts to create sedition in other countries.

These anti-government protests have been the deadliest bout of domestic turmoil in the Islamic Republic’s history.

As per latest reports, at least 41 people have died in protests that started on 17 September due to the death of Masha Amini in police custody.
