Iran unveils jet-sized subterranean air force facility

Iran on Tuesday unveiled “Eagle 44” which is the country’s first fighter jet-sized subterranean air force facility.

The “Eagle 44” base has the capacity to house and control combat planes and drones, according to the official IRNA news agency. The report didn’t go into much detail on where the base was.

It is one of the most significant air force facilities in the country and was constructed deep below to house aircraft armed with long-range cruise missiles.

In an effort to defend its military assets from potential airstrikes by Israel Iran’s army revealed information on another subterranean base that housed drones in May.

Iran has criticized the head of the UN nuclear watchdog following the centrifuge report.

“Any attack on Iran from our adversaries especially Israel would witness a reaction from our multiple air force facilities including Eagle 44,” Iran’s chief of staff of the armed forces Mohammad Bagheri said.
