He held a telephone conversation with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali on Tuesday, during which he expressed Pakistan’s serious concern over the safety and well-being of the abducted sailors.
Ishaq Dar stressed the need for their swift release and secure repatriation to Pakistan, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
According to the Foreign Office, the Somali foreign minister assured that efforts are continuing to secure the release of the hostages at the earliest.
He reiterated Somalia’s commitment to working sincerely toward resolving the issue.
Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and continue coordination until the matter is fully resolved.
The incident occurred on April 21 when the vessel MT Honour 25 was hijacked by pirates off the southeastern coast of Somalia.
Eleven Pakistani nationals, along with other crew members, were taken hostage and remain in captivity.
Diplomatic efforts between Pakistan and Somalia are ongoing to ensure the safe recovery and return of the sailors.
