Islamabad court gives three suspects in Barrister Fahad Malik murder case life imprisonment

An Islamabad court has announced the sentence of life imprisonment for three suspects in the murder of Barrister Fahad Malik, six years after the incident.

A shooting on a public road in Islamabad killed Barrister Fahad Malik as he was leaving Shalimar police station after his shift while representing a client on August 15, 2016. His car was stopped, and he was hit by gunfire.

Three suspects were detained on suspicion of murder: Raja Arshad, Nauman Khokar, and Raja Hashim Khan.

A few days after the murder, Arshad tried to escape to Afghanistan but was detained by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) near the Torkham border.

Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi granted bail to Arshad, the main defendant when the murder trial was nearing its conclusion in May 2019. However, the IHC later decided to suspend it.

The Islamabad court announced its ruling today and convicted Raja Arshad, Hashim, and Noman Khokhar to life imprisonment.
