Islamabad court remands Hassaan Niazi in police custody for two days

Hassaan Niazi, the nephew of former premier Imran Khan, was given a two-day physical remand on Tuesday by an Islamabad District and Sessions court in connection with a case involving inappropriate behavior with authorities.

Hassaan Niazi has filed a complaint against the ruling with another session’s court shortly after Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah announced the verdict, and a hearing date was set.

Despite the accusations made against him, the suspect needs to be investigated in a “thorough and proper manner,” the court ruling stated.

After receiving pre-arrest bail in three instances, Niazi was re-arrested on Monday as he was leaving the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) in a different case.

He had already received bail from the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in proceedings filed against him and other PTI supporters about incidents that occurred on February 28 and March 18, when PTI chief Imran Khan appeared before the FJC.

The habeas corpus petition brought by attorneys Faisal Hussain and Mohammad Ali Bukhari was heard during the hearing of the FIR against Niazi, which relates to the alleged misbehavior with authorities.

The police allegedly tried to halt Niazi’s car but the driver tried to run them over, the FIR stated.

Niazi allegedly got out of the car when the police pulled him over, cursed at them and threatened to shoot them.
