Islamabad’s court extends physical remand of Shahnawaz Amir for four days

Islamabad’s district and sessions court has extended the physical remand of Shahnawaz Amir for another four days.

Shahnawaz, the main suspect in Sarah Inam murder case, had been arrested last week for allegedly killing his wife Sarah Inam, a Canadian national.

The sad incident had taken place at the suspect’s farmhouse in Shahzad Town where he lived with his mother.

The prosecutor had requested in the court that the physical remand of the suspect be extended for another five days. The officer told the court that apparently the suspect had been receiving money from the deceased and the matter required further inquiry.

Earlier, Shahnawaz was presented before the court of Civil Judge Muhammad Amir Aziz. It is also pertinent to note that no counsel representing the defendant or victim’s family appeared before the court.

The judge asked about the number of days of the previous remand; upon which it was told that the remand was for five days. Upon that, the court granted another four-day remand.

Ayaz Amir’s counsel had requested the court to direct the police that the mobile phone of his client be returned. Upon that the prosecutor told the court that they had sent the phone for forensics as Ayaz had told the investigators that his phone had a picture related to the incident.

The judge rejected Ayaz’s plea saying that the phone should be returned after the completion of the investigation. Earlier, the court had discharged Ayaz Amir from the charge of abetment in the case.
