Israeli raids intensify across West Bank

Israeli forces carried out overnight raids across several areas of the occupied West Bank late Tuesday, arresting several Palestinians, tightening security at military checkpoints and sparking clashes in some towns.

Local sources said confrontations broke out near the Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied East Jerusalem, after Israeli troops entered the area. Traffic came to a standstill at the Qalandia and Jaba checkpoints as soldiers increased security measures and fired tear gas toward passing vehicles.

The military also raided Hizma, north of occupied East Jerusalem, along with Silwad, Ein Yabrud and the Al-Tira neighborhood in Ramallah, where one Palestinian was detained. Additional operations took place in Qarawat Bani Zeid, Beit Rima and Deir Ghassaneh, northwest of Ramallah.

In the Jenin governorate, Israeli soldiers arrested a Palestinian during a raid on his home in the Wadi Burqin area west of Jenin city, according to eyewitnesses. Troops also entered Qusra, southeast of Nablus, and the eastern neighborhood of Tulkarm, where they used sound bombs during the operation. Another raid targeted the Tuffah Junction area in the city.

Earlier this month, the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported that it had documented 11,074 Israeli violations across the occupied Palestinian territory during the first half of 2026. Hebron recorded the highest number with 2,224 incidents, followed by Ramallah and Al-Bireh (2,175), Nablus (2,095) and Bethlehem (1,137).

Official Palestinian figures show that violence in the West Bank has sharply increased since October 2023. During this period, 1,175 Palestinians have been killed, 12,919 injured and nearly 24,000 arrested.
