Israeli President Isaac Herzog is en route to Washington, DC, at the invitation of his American counterpart, President Joe Biden.

Herzog is also expected to speak with top administration officials including US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, congress members, as well as American Jewish leaders.

As per i24 news reports, Herzog before his departure stated “I am departing tonight to the United States for an official visit at the invitation of my friend, President Joe Biden, whom I was delighted to host during his visit to Israel a few months ago. The United States is Israel’s greatest ally, and our strategic partnership is both enduring and unshakable.”

Last week White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre stated that both leaders will discuss key regional and global mutual challenges and the ways to enhance Israel’s regional integration as well as ways to progress equal levels of liberty, well-being, and security for Israelis and Palestinians.

She went on to say that the US considers its long-standing partnership and friendship with Israel to be “ironclad.”

According to media reports, Biden invited Herzog for a formal diplomatic visit during his July trip to the Middle East.
