Jahangir Tareen group ready to move against government: Maryam Nawaz

Maryam Nawaz says several lawmakers ready to jump ship

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz said on Friday that the ‘estranged’ Jahangir Khan Tareen group of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) was ready to make a move against the government.

Speaking with a local news channel, the PML-N vice president said the party was working to broaden its base and make it more proactive.

In comments about the Jahangir Tareen group, she said there was no need to approach the group and bring it into confidence as it was already poised to make the move.

She added that PML-N supremo was chairing daily meetings of the party via video link from London. Maryam resolved that she would perform whatever duty that was given to her by the party.

A day earlier, Maryam assailed the PTI government saying that lawmakers were ready to “jump ship from the sinking vessel”. Speaking with reporters outside the Islamabad High Court, Maryam said the public was angry and the government did not have the courage to face them. She claimed the government’s days were numbered, adding that people were yearning to grab Prime Minister Imran Khan by the throat for what he had done.
