Jamaat-e-Islami mobilises to mediate Azad Kashmir crisis, forms special committee

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman accepts Joint Action Committee's mediation offer and plans meetings with the President and Prime Minister to resolve the three-week lockdown.

Jamaat-e-Islami has mobilised to act as a mediator regarding the situation in Azad Kashmir, establishing a special committee to help resolve the ongoing crisis.

A meeting focused on the current situation in Azad Kashmir was held under the chairmanship of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman. The meeting welcomed the Joint Action Committee’s offer for Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman to mediate, and participants deliberated on future strategies to end the deadlock.

During the meeting, it was decided that Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman will hold consultations with the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and other national leaders to discuss the Azad Kashmir situation and present actionable proposals to resolve the outstanding issues.

To formulate the next steps, the Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami established a dedicated committee. This committee will establish contact with the Joint Action Committee and compile various recommendations for the leadership to facilitate joint efforts in ending the crisis.

Addressing the meeting, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman stated that the current situation in Azad Kashmir cannot be left at the mercy of circumstances. He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami will play its full role in improving conditions, and every possible effort will be made to alleviate the difficulties faced by the Kashmiri people.

He added that the timeless allegiance of Kashmiris to Pakistan is beyond any doubt. The meeting also took into consideration that the public in Azad Kashmir is being deprived of basic life necessities due to a lockdown that has continued for three weeks. Consequently, the forum urged the Government of Pakistan to take immediate, effective steps to ensure the supply of essential commodities and medicines.
