JUI-F served notice for plans to block Srinagar Highway

JUI-F to respond in 48 hours barring which the NOC issued to the party will be cancelled

The Islamabad administration has issued a show-cause notice to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Friday for preparing to set up stage on Srinagar Highway by obstructing the road and violating the terms and conditions of the no-objection certificate (NOC) issued to the party.

The notice was given by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat to JUI-F’s Islamabad emir Maulana Abdul Majeed Hazarvi, requesting him to respond within 48 hours barring which the NOC would be cancelled.

According to the NOC, the JUI rally would not disturb or disrupt citizens’ rights.

The goal to block Srinagar Highway requires anticipatory actions by the district administration to maintain peace and to protect rights of citizens, it said. It maintained that since the organizers were being served show-cause notice, the NOC issued for the rally may be cancelled.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry requested Islamabad administration to issue an NOC for the party’s own rally. In a letter to the District Commissioner, he shared details of the long march plan of the party along with the planned rally being held by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Islamabad.

The PML-N’s long march will begin on Saturday (today) from Lahore via the G.T. Road and Islamabad Expressway and will arrive at Peshawar Mor, Srinagar Highway, in the evening.

The rally will be held at Peshawar Mor on March 28 and where the PDM component parties will address the attendees.
