Moonbin, a member of the popular South Korean boy band Astro, passed away at the age of 25. The news is confirmed by his music label Fantagio.
According to local reports, he was found dead on Wednesday evening in his apartment in Seoul’s Gangnam neighborhood.
Fantagio released a statement on Twitter, asking the public to avoid making speculations or malicious reports about his unexpected death so that his family can mourn and honor him in peace.
Moonbin was a member of both Astro and the sub-group Moonbin & Sanha, having joined Fantagio’s trainee program at a young age.
He debuted with Astro in February 2016, when the group had six members. Sadly, Moonbin’s passing is the latest in a string of deaths of young K-pop stars, including two suspected suicides in 2019, which were attributed to intense online bullying.
