Karachi: Another religious scholar, Saleem Khatri, killed

Another religious scholar has been assassinated in Karachi within two days.

Saleem Khatri, a local Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat leader and provincial legal advisor, was killed in the attack.

The police has said that Saleem Khatri was attacked near his house in New Karachi Sector 5G.

Police also added that Saleem Khatri received five bullet injuries and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a serious condition but could not survive and doctors confirmed his death.

The deceased was the leader of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal-Jamaat Karachi Division and provincial legal advisor, spokesman of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat has said.

SSP Central Maroof Usman told media that the deceased religious scholar was standing at a shop in New Karachi Sector 5G under Bilal Colony police station limits when four suspects on a motorcycle targeted him.

Police have started the investigation of the incident on different angles including targeted killing, sectarian killing or enmity, police has told media.

Yesterday, another scholar Mufti Abdul Qayum, 45, associated with the Sunni Ulema Council was gunned down by unidentified men riding pillion on a motorcycle in the locality’s Block-9.
